Federico Exaggerated by Hazel Pacheco
Federico enjoys exaggerating. Especially when it means all eyes are on him! One day his inflated story of his bravery on the Rio Grande is interrupted by the announcement of ripe hackberries. Left without an audience, Federico stomps off and accidentally stumbles onto a way to recapture his friends’ attention—well maybe. What he finds might teach him that truth can be incredible without exaggeration.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Visiting the library with my daughters and reading bedtime stories to them are some of my fondest “Mommy” memories. I often thought someday I'd write a children's book, and I did—more than once! Federico Exaggerated is the second picture book in the Henry and Friends series.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The idea for Federico Exaggerated began during one of my walks along an arroyo. I spotted at least two coveys of quails, if not three. In particular, I noticed one large male perched on a high rock. He was calling to the group trying mightily to get their attention, but the other quails were busy calling to each other and paid him no mind. It amused me and made me wonder what was going on. My imagination went to work, and Federico came to be.
