About the Author
Jacqueline King, MS, RDN, CDE, FADA is a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator, and a fellow in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She has worked at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center and Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago where she worked as the dietitian at the Diabetes and Pregnancy Center.

She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Dietetics at the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Food Science at Northern Illinois University.

Jackie has a special interest in pre-diabetes and diabetes. She has had diabetes for over 47 years and is passionate about reducing the diabetes epidemic that the United States is experiencing. She also sees patients with a variety of nutrition related diseases as well as those interested in weight reduction.

Jackie has lectured across the country to lay and professional groups. She has recently written the book “Too Busy to Diet”. She wrote this book with her colleague, Monica Joyce. They have worked for more than 60 combined years in the field of dietetics and nutrition. Their book was written to help answer the issues that their busy patients find trying to stay healthy when they are “on the run”.

Monica is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator. She is the Program Director of an American Diabetes Association Recognized Program in an endocrinology practice in Chicago. She is a local and national speaker to health care professionals on diabetes and obesity.
Monica is the Founder and Executive Director of Slam Dunk for Diabetes a basketball camp for children ages 5 to 18 founded in 2004. In 2013, she was recognized for her camp, Slam-Dunk for Diabetes by the American Association of Diabetes Educators at the annual meeting. In 2014, she was recognized by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for her work on Slam Dunk.
