Ari Ciminon (The 56th Man), former member of Saddam Hussein’s Special Security Force, has dealt with crooked cops, drug rings and maniacal assassins. Now he is tucked away in a safe house in Richmond, Virginia, continuing his task of identifying Iraqi insurgents for American military intelligence. Protected by the U.S. Marshals Service, he still manages to get into hot water when he innocently volunteers to translate for an Arab prisoner accused of being a car thief.

This leads him to a gruesome murder, an encounter with a deadly assassin and a meeting with the most reviled and despicable member of the Saddam Hussein regime. Only his wits and an old comrade keep him alive as he takes history into his own hands.

Welcome to Pineapple Cay, the new hometown of Nina Spark.

Nina bought a cottage off the internet. On a sunny island she’d never heard of before. At about two o’clock in the morning with a glass of red wine in her hand, a few hours after her cheating husband had cleared out. She was on a plane to Pineapple Cay a week later.

Things seemed to get off to a good start. Nina’s new hometown is the charming village of Coconut Cove, with its narrow lanes lined with candy coloured houses and gardens overflowing with tropical flowers. Her back yard is a white sand beach and the mesmerizing turquoise sea. Her next door neighbour is the handsome Ted Matthews, owner of a fishing lodge. She’s invited to a glamourous dinner party at the ocean hideaway of a famous rock musician and his lovely wife.

But local big shot Barry Bassett has his eye on Nina’s cozy little beach cottage with the aim of tearing it down to build condos. Then Barry’s obnoxious wife Tiffany goes missing along with a priceless emerald necklace retrieved from a ship wreck, and Nina finds herself sitting across a desk from the very serious chief of police, Blue Roker, wondering how her day dream of easy living in the islands got so far off track so quickly.

Join Nina Spark and her new best friends the philosophizing mailman Danish Jensen and the ever cheerful Pansy Gallagher, as they careen around Pineapple Cay at the maximum speed of fifteen miles an hour in a golf cart, trying to figure out what the heck is going on.

This is a story Jimmy Buffett and Agatha Christie might have come up with if they’d been holed up together for a weekend at some slightly faded beachfront hotel with a pitcher of pina coladas and a box of fireworks.

Do you love books like The Handmaid’s Tale and Never Let Me Go–books that present a dystopian vision in a literary approach? Then you need to read THE HAUNTINGS OF PLAYING GOD.

Everyone is dead. All that remains is an old woman and a gymnasium full of unresponsive bodies. Each day, another storm approaches, threatening to destroy the building they call home. Each night, a series of nightmares leaves the woman screaming for help. Alone and overwhelmed, will the final member of the human race be thought of as a caretaker or as a monster? THE HAUNTINGS OF PLAYING GOD is a story about the possibilities each life holds. It is also a lesson about the importance of believing in something greater than yourself.

Introducing-the-New-Testament-Front-Cover7

A thorough but concise introduction for proper interpretation

Many introductions to the New Testament are either too simple, not providing all the necessary information, or overly complicated and written at a level out of the reach of an average person with no seminary training. This work is neither. The author is thorough, providing over 200 footnotes for further study and additional archaeological and historical information, but at a level that is understandable, and in a concise manner.

In this work the author also addresses deeper subjects, such as the “synoptic problem,” the Northern and Southern Galatia theories, Justification in the book of James, as well as the historical background to the cities of Corinth, Ephesus, Philippi, Colossae, and Thessalonika.

The various interpretive approaches to some of the more controversial books are also discussed (1 John, Hebrews, James, and Revelation). Every chapter ends with a carefully constructed outline to that particular book of the New Testament just introduced. In the appendix, the author provides links to, and descriptions of, several free online Bible study resources that are invaluable to the student of the Word.

The appendix, by itself, is worth the price of the book.
