Some things are best left forgotten
Jesse Springer would agree—now. Jesse, a garden-variety, egocentric rich guy with an unerring penchant for shooting himself in the foot, is being blackmailed after a visit to an up-market strip club owned by the local crime boss. The problem is he doesn’t remember a thing about it—even after a wad of explicit photographs arrive in the mail one morning, making him choke on his cheerios.
Jesse panics and hires college buddy and maverick private investigator, Evan Buckley—no stranger to self-induced mayhem himself— to investigate. Nothing is what it seems when Evan heads down to the endless grass and millionaire stud farms surrounding Louisville, home of the Kentucky Derby, where he finds it’s not all old South charm and mint juleps and he’s soon caught up in a lethal game of double-crossing, pain and bloodshed.
Meanwhile, Jesse’s getting antsy—one of the photographs has gone missing and he suspects his wife has found it—so when the situation gets unbearable at home he heads back to confront the blackmailers himself, making Evan’s job almost impossible in the process—not to mention infinitely more dangerous for both of them. As the bodies pile up around him, Evan is forced to choose between his gut instinct and the apocryphal evidence—and the only thing he knows for sure is that any wrong step will be his last.

How often have you wished that you were better able to remember details or experiences and then apply these memories to the task at hand? Don’t you hate the feeling of drawing ‘a blank’ at a critical moment, after hours of studying, or research? Do you often struggle to keep up with long-winded lecturers, let alone recall what has been said?
When you are able to recall pertinent knowledge to solve a problem, come up with a new idea or answer a complex question, you are skillfully applying your memory. There is no such thing as “poor” memory. The real issue is whether we have a trained, or an untrained memory. Most of us use only a fraction of our memory capability. The way we improve our memory is not by improving intelligence or mental capacity, but by actively applying fundamental principles of memory improvement and using a variety of memory techniques and systems similar to those presented in this book.
Like any other skill that we acquire, to improve our memory capabilities we have to learn and develop various methods and techniques, and practice them until it becomes second nature!
What you will learn from this book;
- Brief insight into the intricacies of the human brain,
- The ‘roots’ of memory systems, general principles and how memory is defined,
- Practical strategies to ‘kill’ stress and ‘cure’ your mind,
- How, and why a healthy body and diet leads to a healthy mind,
- Skillfully applying your memory by practicing proven memory improvement methods and techniques;
- The Art of Interest and Attention,
- The importance of a positive mindset,
- Understanding where ideas come from, and therefore releasing your inner creative genius,
- Mirroring the way your brain works through the use of learning maps,
- Correct keyword identification for better recall,
- How to easily remember names and numbers,
- And among others, the unlimited powers of Visualization and Association, which will teach you how to remember and embed large chunks of information that will easily be available for recall.

In the middle of the Atlantic, four hundred miles west of Bermuda, the eight thousand passengers and crew aboard the cruise ship MS Cypress vanish into thin air. Everyone—men, women, and children—all gone. Taken.
Everyone except five teenagers.
In an instant, their seven day cruise becomes a nightmare: eighteen decks of haunted hallways, pools and bars completely empty, desserts still half-eaten in the abandoned Royal Promenade. A ghost ship the size of a city, sailing blind. At least their annoying parents are gone.
But now strange things are happening. Satellites are dropping out of orbit, falling from the sky. Satellites…and bigger things. They’re not as alone as they think. A message appears in an ancient language, burned into the carpet in the deck ten elevator lobby. It’s a warning. A monster lurks onboard, hunting them. What they’ve long suspected appears certain: the vanishing…it was an attack.
Now the most unlikely of friends must confront the shadowy pasts that link them and regain control of a runaway cruise ship, crack a four-thousand-year-old mystery, and wage war on a formless evil…before they too vanish into oblivion.
