The old gods are trying to erase humanity and recreate it in a new image. Juxta doesn’t want his friends uncreated. Treated fairly by the king and his family, he dominates at magic and can beat the best in the realm. When his country goes to war with a strong aggressor, he holds the line. About the Author
I played and kicked ass at games like Axis&Allies and Titan as a young pup.
I started teaching myself to program computers. The computer age was dawning. My dad wrote software for the military, so it made sense he'd get me into it. The first piece of software I developed professionally was a Chemical Weapons Attack Simulator for the USAF. Since then I built websites professionally and browser based multiplayer kingdom games.
Thanksgiving of 2003 represents the epoch of my writing journey. I penned my first novel between Thanksgiving and Christmas that year. I had high hopes for it of course, but it needed work. I wrote Juxta, Magi next, my first attempt at epic fantasy. My muse demanded a sci-fi war book, so I wrote R.A.E.C.E. Genesis.
I had no clue how to get published. I didn't know how to edit my manuscripts (and they needed editing). It kind of hit me like lightning one day. Sinclair Community College might have an English class I could take.
I discovered English Composition I&II, Fiction Writing, Advanced Fiction Writing, Novel Writing, Horror Fiction, and the most awesome class ever, Text Editing. I took classes with Ed Davis and Tim Waggoner. I'd still be taking classes there if Ed had not retired. I am very thankful to them.
I'm happy with the novels I've written. I keep a secret box stashed away with a number of print magazines that published me.
For five years I ran an eZine, Untied Shoelaces of the Mind. Working as an editor has really helped me grow as a writer, possibly as much or more than the classes I've taken. I ran away mostly because I had simply read one too many Man-Eats-Own-Leg stories.
I do more gardening now. Sunshine is medicine for me. I want a competitive yard. My kung poa chicken recipe is as good as I need it to be, scorch the earth. Gotta grow fresh legumes. I feel like I'm done producing novels, and if I want to spread joy, I need to write short fiction.
