The first story, set in 1919 follows Wilfred Elliot, a man whose young wife has recently died under mysterious circumstances. Among her possessions he finds something that reveals she had a secret life. It will take over his thoughts and drive him to do more and more desperate things. He believes an escape to the mountains for some fresh air and new surroundings will help him overcome his grief and his growing obsession, but of course, The Blackstone is the last place some people find respite from such things.
A little bit Gothic, a little bit Lovecraft, a little bit Stephen King, but easy to read.

Ever since he was a small child he’s been plagued by hauntings, from a poltergeist at the age of four, to demonic entities of various kinds that seem drawn to him.
