About Featured Book: EPICURUS and THE PLEASANT LIFE: A Philosophy of Nature Kindle Edition– November 30, 2022 – Revised and Expanded 2nd Edition by Haris Dimitriadis
This book seeks to reintroduce pleasure as our innate guide to living a healthy and happy life—a simple yet powerful assertion based on empirical data, which stands up to the strictest scrutiny.
Along this journey, we will explore evidence throughout the historical evolution of philosophy up to the time of Epicurus, the ancient Greek philosopher who laid the foundations for a philosophy of nature. More specifically, it’s the only philosophy that distinguishes pleasure as the inherent human guide to a healthy and happy life.
Our multiscreen, one-click modern society is often accused of hedonism, yet this perception is contradicted by a widespread obsession with pain. Of course, pain relief and pain control are noteworthy themes, yet it remains remarkable that a minority seeks to understand pleasure and its role in life. Despite its significance, very few have endeavored to recognize and present guidelines based on scientific evidence that pleasure promotes health and happiness.
Contemporary society is characterized by a denial and fear of pleasure. This behavior is usually unconscious and always difficult to overcome. In many ways, we are all influenced and sometimes even consciously trained to resist pleasure.
This is taught to us by parents, medical professionals, educators, religious leaders, and other authority figures. Furthermore, the enemy is also often found within. Most of us harbor self-destructive tendencies which lead us to deny ourselves pleasure for a variety of reasons.
For many, healthy living hinges on deprivation. Aspirations to have a healthy body, for example, often lead to rigorous, rigid diets which are only effective for the moment they are followed. Meals become a source of measured pain in anticipation of a successful outcome that can never be extricated from denial and deficit. Contrasted with a life guided by pleasure, little (if any) resemblance is perceived. When one is motivated by pleasure, satisfaction, and fulfillment are emphasized rather than abstinence and deprivation.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
While visiting with daughter and son-in-law in their home in a large retirement community, my son-in-law disappeared for a while. Daughter said, "He's taking care of his trash harem." When she told me what he was doing, I knew I had to write a mystery with a trash harem. And of course, I wanted to use the enviornment of a retirement community. The one in the book is fictional. I love Temecula and all the wineries plus the fact that the famous mystery writer Erle Stanley Gardner once lived in the area and had a great time doing the research for the book. And of course, since it's a Tempe Crabtree mystery, I included a bit about the Pechanga Indians.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Since this is a long standing series, Tempe, who is Native American, and her pastor husband Hutch are as real to me as any of my friends. I first came up with her when I met a lovely Indian woman who lives on the nearby reservation, a female deputy I wrote an article about for our local newspaper, and a female police officer I did a grave yard shift ride-along with. Tempe is a combination of all three. As for the people who live in the fictional retirement community, they like many characters in my book, just seem to pop into my imagination.

Fake Dating my Baby Daddy by Josie Hart |

Fake Dating my Baby Daddy by Josie Hart
I’m fake dating the hottest man alive.
And he doesn’t know he put a baby in my belly.
Gavin Austin. The epitome of sexy.
A real life demigod with sculpted cheekbones and a perfect body to match that 10/10 face.
After seeing the TV report on his recent breakup,
I can’t stop the intrusive thoughts about everything I want him to do to me.
It’s just my own little fantasy, for now.
When his jilted ex-girlfriend wants back into his life,
I grab his hand and play new girlfriend.
Fake dating for pretenses only… until it isn’t.
Just a flick tingles all my secret spots,
And his touch marks something deep inside me.
The feelings between us just got too real,
And this maverick’s instinct is to run.
But can I make him stay now that he’s my baby daddy?
Fake Dating my Baby Daddy is set in the same universe as my Grumpy Alpha Billionaires and Bossy Billionaire Brothers series.
The couples make frequent cameos, most notably Ava & Noah from Accidental Baby for the Billionaire.
This is a complete standalone, with no cliffhanger and no cheating. Only undeniable chemistry, hot naughty times, and the most satisfying HEA to leave you feeling warm, and a little tingly inside.
Targeted Age Group:: 18+
Heat/Violence Level: Heat Level 5 – NC-17
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I wanted to write a story that wasn’t enemies to lovers, just to change it up a bit! I believe the emotional connection between Gavin and Paige is even stronger because they have established a friendship before becoming romantically involved.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
My inspiration is most of the real-life couples I know, who start as friends before developing deep romantic feelings and falling in love!

To Own Two Suns by Fran Tabor |
|
To Own Two Suns is a novel about a crew of scientists who are exploring our solar system when they encounter an alien spacecraft.
The plot focuses on two main characters: Captain Jerry Jerrison and Muni of the Green Hill Clan from the Morgi planet. Jerry Jerrison is the captain of a Solar Missions Ship (SMS) from Earth. His dream since childhood has been to encounter extraterrestrial life. When the Morgi spacecraft decelerates and is detected by Jerrison’s ship, Jerrison and his crew make a daring decision to act before command back on earth can tell them to avoid contact. Two of the crew explore the craft to discover what life, if any, is occupying such a superior vessel.
Muni, the sole occupant of the craft, is in a state of deep sleep. The ship’s Artificial Intelligence must decide what to do about the humans and their failing spaceship without Muni’s guidance.
Muni’s mission is to find a way to claim the earth’s solar system for his clan. If he fails, his entire family will be killed. He is his family’s last hope. As the novel progresses, Muni and the humans must find a way to communicate, to understand each other, and to form a compatible relationship that will hopefully not result in the extermination of either or both groups.
Jerrison learns the Morgi civilization will accept humans as true “people”, not just clever animals, only if they can prove their greatness. Morgi law: Only against great odds can greatness be revealed. Jerrison, a scientist, must become a warrior if he is to save both humanity and Muni’s clan. If he fails, the human race and Muni’s clan will be exterminated.
Targeted Age Group:: Teen to Adult
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Faster than light travel is a science fiction trope, but what is FTL is limited, and most interstellar travel is slower than light? What if, therrefore, a spaceship can arrive expecting ice age earth and cavemen instead discovers an interplanetary human society? Why would that be bad?
What if E.T's believe anything that communicates with 'fuzzy' sound waves instead of precise light signals (as do cuttlefish in our oceans) puts spacefaring humans in the same category we do clever ant colonies?
How many ways does biology control our emotions?
Can two species with very different biologies develop true friendships?
This book provides a few guesses to those questions.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The humans were inspired by the many scientists I've read about and met.
The human crew on the exploratory mission to the Kuiper Belt beyond Pluto see themselves as peaceful scientists — as is the image of many scientists. I believe people willing to explore the fringes of ideas possess the courage it takes to be true warriors, and to meet the challenges their encounter with the Morgi will demand of them. Since their round trip voyage would take a minimum of twenty years, they are as much warriors as are any of our exploring ancestors.
Muni, the primary alien was fun. I wanted to make him as different as possible from humans, and yet nobly motivated to save his family. I gave him an amphibian type biology, with an assumption of many young hatched, with the expectation only a few would make it to full adulthood. This pattern would repeat throughout their culture. Each clan would start with many, but expect at any time to be exterminated by others just like their young expect a high mortality rate. Hence the constant pressure to reveal their idea of greatness: Only against great odds (the one in a thousand survival rate) can greatness be revealed. At the same time, great love can be expereinced between indiviuals.
