What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Each of the four novellas has its initial trigger. A TV show bank robbery for "No Regrets," a newspaper article about registered sex offenders and Halloween for "Probation," a meditation on "The Shape of Life," and the TV show House Hunters for, of course, "House Hunters."

How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
There are no simple answers to this question, but Shane Kenniston was inspired in part by the leader of the San Diego Youth Orchestra, which holds open rehearsals in Balboa Park. Although Gia in "House Hunters" is nothing like me, her character is informed by my library career. In general, these are the characters who were willing to talk to me and help the words flow.
