What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
After years of writing teen fiction, my publishers asked me if I would write historical fiction. I've always loved reading it, so I eagerly agreed.

Then they asked me what I was going to write about. That stumped me, because I had no idea. I told them I would get back to them when I had an answer!

I was living in Richmond, VA at the time – surrounded by the history of the Civil War. An experience at a reenactment for Chimborazo Hospital, inspired my passion to tell the TRUTH about that time.

You see, if you're from the South, you learn about the Civil War one way. If you're from the North, you learn about it a different way. If you're from the Midwest… I think you have the idea.

The problem is that no one is taught the truth! I decided it was time to remedy that by creating powerful characters and being completely anal about historical accuracy.

So far there are 19 books in the series, but there are many more to come. I don't like a good story to end either!

How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Good question. Without wanting to sound too simplistic, they simply came to life on my computer screen, taking on their fullness as history unfolded before them.
