What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Critically acclaimed and award-winning author Krista Lockheart and her co-author, Dorothy Danger, both have treasured their pet Basset Hounds. Krista's beloved Basset was her childhood confidant, and Dorothy owns three Basset Hounds that charm her every day! After their success with their first series which featured a chihuahua, they decided to pivot to a New Orleans setting and a new main character. (they are continuing with the first series as well!) Charmed by New Orleans, and wanting to continue writing funny cozy culinary/cozy animal mysteries, they realized with their combined love of that breed and experience, that a Basset Hound would make the perfect animal to accompany their plucky new main character, Adelaide Pascal. The co-authors enjoy creating witty dialog and also love writing tantalizing food descriptions as they develop their intricate plot and juggle multiple credible suspects. It is their hope that you find this book as enjoyable to read as it was for them to write!
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Adelaide Pascal, their main character, is inspired by the combined qualities of Krista Lockheart, and her co-author and editor, Dorothy Danger. Georgia is Adelaide's best friend and co-owner of the bookstore/bakery that is the center of the community for Belle Chasse, Louisiana. Krista loves food and would love to be a food critic. So she enjoys writing mouth-watering food descriptions and witty dialog and bantering sections for Adelaide. Dorothy is a true crime fanatic and loves puzzling out a mystery and chewing on clues. So Dorothy enjoyed writing about Trent Norwood, the police officer who assists Adelaide with the murder investigation, and Krista enjoyed writing food scenes and lighthearted moments in appropriate places. Together, their brainstorming sessions are epic and frequently leave Krista and Dorothy laughing. They enjoy using direct quotes and jokes they come up with in their brainstorming sessions in the book and just have to figure out which character should say them.
