What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Many, many things have inspired me to write The Echo Series.
I've always wanted to be an author and my story writing began when I was a kid when I would play with my dolls and my brother with his lego before I moved away. We noticed there was a pattern in the stories we would play and so we created the magical world of Faelosergon and started writing stories instead.
Moving away, I had a difficult upbringing so I would read and get myself lost in the worlds of Twilight, The House of Night Series, The Night World Series and other similar series. These books are by my favourite authors L. J. Smith, P. C. and Kristin Cast and others fuelled my passion for reading and writing and I found their worlds a great comfort during some of my most difficult times.
Around two years ago, I looked up Strange Fate by L. J. Smith and discovered that she had a medical emergency that prevented her from completing the final instalment of the Night World Series. This spurred on my inspiration and drive to finally finish writing Red Wolf, the first instalment of The Echo Series.
In the twelve years I've been writing, The Echo Series stories have evolved and grown to be the story it is today. What's written in the pages comes from a mixture of personal experiences, shows and books I loved and my imagination.
What's ultimately inspired me to write this series are the teenagers and young adults still going through a tough time today. I wrote the Echo Series for them and hope that they can see Faelosergon as a safe, magical place they can find comfort and enjoyment in.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
My characters have been inspired by people I know in real life as well as a mixture of those that I have read in my favourite book series. They're all individually diverse and have their own set of challenges, even if some seem flat at face-value.
