What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I was inspired to write Hidden when I read about Charles Manson and how he influenced his followers to do terrible deeds and other sect leaders that brainwash their followers.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I love creating something from the world around me. My characters are from newspapers, everyday people and from my imagination.

Chapter 3
California
Amanda drove through the streets of San Francisco and into the parking garage one street back from the Campbell-Beare building. She parked in her usual spot and headed for the elevator.
A man wearing a dark hoodie was sitting in a nearby van.
An uneasy sensation crept over her, and she hurried to the elevator. She jiggled the button. Come on, hurry up.
The man stepped from the van and strode toward her.
Geez! She hit the button again, hoping the elevator doors opened before he reached her.
Finally inside, she punched the button for the ground floor. The doors closed slowly… too slowly. She reached inside her purse for the pepper spray.
The man held a cell phone in his hand and dialed a number while staring at her.
She tensed, but he did not reach out and stop the door from closing.
When the carriage started its ascent, she let out the breath she had been holding.
Moments later, the elevator stopped.
She waited, hoping it would start moving again soon.
Nothing happened.
She dialed the service number listed on the side panel. It rang and rang, but no one answered. Shit, shit, shit!
Banging on the doors did not get any response either. She tried calling the service number again.
Still no answer.
She pressed the emergency button.
No response.
Fuck.
She did not want to be late for the board meeting. She had left an hour early to allow for any traffic delays. Now, she might be stuck in this elevator for hours. "Help. Help!"
The eerie silence was unnerving. The walls seemed to close in, on her. Breathe.
She gasped, reached for her asthma inhaler, and took a lung-expanding dose.
Dialing 911, she stuttered out her predicament to an operator who asked for the address. Just as she was about to tell the woman her location, the phone disconnected.
She dialed again, but the signal was gone. She tried repeatedly to no avail.
Had the guy in the parking garage done this? Had he used something other than a cell phone to stop the elevator in between floors? She tried to dismiss the thought, but it swelled, and her uneasiness grew.
Amanda banged her fists on the doors again, her heart beating against her chest like a trapped bird.
She tried to pry open the doors. Slowly, they inched apart, but not enough for her to ease through and climb up to the floor above her head.
When voices drifted down to her, she screamed. "H-help me. Help! I'm stuck in the elevator!"
No one replied.
She screamed until she was hoarse.
