Spirit Bear by Delta James

It’s the time of the rut…and she’s at his mercy.

Nora Bishop, investigative reporter, is determined to uncover the truth of the “accidental” deaths of her friend and a conspiracy theorist. She realizes she’s on to something after a break-in at her loft and she calls the one man she thinks can keep her safe…Boone Daniels.

Now making a living as a back-country guide and mercenary, Boone agrees to keep Nora safe…for a price: Nora must agree to all of his sexual needs. And he has many.

But when old feelings for each other start to rise to the surface, the truth Nora seeks also brings them both closer to danger. The truth is far too close to home—proof that a parallel species evolved alongside mankind.

The secret has been kept for millennia and Boone is one of them… a Spirit Bear Shifter; and it’s time to mate.

Publisher note – Spirit Bear is a second chance romance with lots of heat in and out of the bedroom for mature readers only.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
As with most of the books, the hero stepped forward and said, I have a story to tell. I was never planning to write a paranormal series. It was supposed to be a stand-alone. However, more characters are stepping forward so it looks like it will be a series.

How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Boone, the hero of my story, kept whispering, “I have a story to tell,” until I couldn’t ignore him any more and he channeled, Spirit Bear. I was actually working on another story at the time and had to stop that story to write Boone's.

He had just taken the first step up when he thought he heard the faint sound of a motor. Carter raced out into the foyer and the two of them rushed the front door, flinging it open to spill out in front of the house just in time to see one of the SUVs flying down the drive. Boone swore when from the roof of the SUV, a single fist with a defiant one-fingered salute appeared.

“Off hand, I’d say your girl has yet to grasp both the severity of the situation and of royally pissing you off when she disobeys you,” said Carter.

The Arms of Death: Loch Lonach Mysteries with a Scottish Slainte, Book One by Maggie Foster

An ICU nurse unable to save one of her patients finds herself far too close to finding out why in this unique blend of culture and crime from a Best of Texas Books Award-winning author.

Book One in the Loch Lonach Mysteries with a Scottish Slainte series

Ginny Forbes is a nurse with an insatiable curiosity, a special talent for critical thinking, and a gift for getting into trouble. When one of her ICU patients dies unexpectedly, she finds herself on the trail of a centuries-old secret.

Ginny is no stranger to investigation. Her hobby requires ferreting out and fitting together the traces of her ancestors, to create a mosaic of their lives. She knows how to dig and she knows how to read between the lines.

When a handsome newcomer offers to help, she allows him to tag along, but reports back on his actions to her long-time boyfriend, also an historian and genealogist.

Following the clues seems no more than a lark, but between the cause of death and the growing jealousy of her two helpers, Ginny is about to find out just how dangerous idle curiosity can be.

A page-turning mystery packed with suspense perfect for fans of Miss Marple, Lord Peter Wimsey, and Brother Cadfael.

“I loved this book. As an avid mystery fan, I’m pretty particular about my authors. Maggie had me by page four, and it was a page turner from there. The book had the perfect amounts of suspense and romance, always a good combination. I look forward to book two of the series.” Amazon Reader, Sally S.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The best writing advice I ever got was, "Write the book you are dying to read." I love murder mysteries. Can't get enough of them. And I love writing them as much as I love reading them.

How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The characters are amalgams of people I have known throughout my life, but I include story people in that group. When I chose my main character, I used what I know best, my own culture and experiences.

Ginny rose, crossed the small room, and reached for the door handle, but he was there before her. He looked down into her face.
“Ginny, whether it’s true or not, I think it would be a good idea if you told everyone you’ve given up the idea of investigating Professor Craig’s death.”
She looked up at him, her breath tight in her throat. “Anyone in particular?”
He shook his head. “I don’t have a favorite suspect. Do you?”
She shook her head, her eyes on the door handle.
“What is it you’re not telling me?” he asked.
She swallowed hard, then met his eyes. “You know everything I know.”
He studied her face for a moment, then sighed. “All right.” He opened the door and let her go.
Ginny hurried out and back to her own part of the hospital, thinking hard. There was really no reason to suspect him of anything. He was behaving exactly as she would, if their positions were reversed.
A small voice in her head corrected her. Except—he had been following her.
She frowned, pushing the thought aside. Even if everything Hal had told her turned out to be true, it was all circumstantial. Not proof.
"True." The small voice again. "Just one question, though," it said. "And it probably means nothing, it said. It was just, if he was telling the truth about his movements this evening, if he had truly been down to the classroom to get a book, then where was it?" His hands had been empty.

Author Bio:
MAGGIE FOSTER – award-winning author of the Loch Lonach Series – is a seventh-generation Texan of Scottish descent. In addition to being steeped in Scottish traditions and culture, she has a lifetime of experience in healthcare as a registered nurse, a medical malpractice litigation attorney, and a nurse educator. Her numerous interests include genealogy, history, travel, music, dancing, computers, writing, red hair, dark chocolate, good scotch, and men in kilts, not necessarily in that order. These allow her to build plots and subplots (and plots within plots) which should keep readers entertained for years and many books to come.
