About the Author
AUTHOR DUSTY PILOT, born March 9, 1945, Cleveland, Ohio, looks at the world as if it were a book. “If you haven’t traveled, you haven’t gotten past the first page.”

He also views life as a book, too. “If you haven’t lived life to the fullest, you haven’t gotten past the preface.

Beginning at a young age, his parent’s advice was “Live life to the fullest, follow your dreams, shoot for the stars, and never give up.” By following that advice, his life became an extraordinary adventure. Doors opened to a mind-boggling banquet, and he feasted. Never content just reading about it, or hearing about it, he developed a zest for living life — seeing it, experiencing it.

As a kid, Dusty barely made it through high school because of ADD. Then, against all odds, became a syndicated newspaper columnist at age 20, a weekly magazine editor of Ohio’s largest evening newspaper at age 24, was a local TV personality at age 25, and after eight years had syndicated TV segments that ran nationally for two seasons. He also founded and ran five successful businesses (one international), had nine creative living books published, traveled the world, and retired to Costa Rica, building three ocean front houses.

His interesting life also led to his being investigated by the Secret Service for counterfeiting; detained for a three-hour interrogation at a foreign airport; investigated by the FBI, CIA, and other agencies. He had his phones tapped numerous times and was under 24/7 surveillance in a foreign country. He also lost a high six-figure life savings overnight. Dusty will share these experiences, and many more — some humorous, some not so humorous, others unbelievable — in a book entitled My Life Outside the Box: Dusty Pilot Memoirs, due to be published in 2017.

The Pharaoh’s Cat, narrated in the present tense by the cat himself, is the story of a free-spirited, quick-witted stray in ancient Egypt who suddenly finds himself with human powers joined to his feline nature.

About the Author
Maria Luisa Lang was born in Rome, Italy, and lives in New York City. She has a degree in art from the City University of New York, and her artwork has been exhibited in New York galleries. 
She often returns to Italy to visit her family. She has also stayed for extended periods in Bath and London. She loves all animals and is an amateur Egyptologist. Her love of cats and ancient Egypt inspired her to write two novels about them. The Pharaoh’s Cat is her first novel. She has almost completed its sequel, The Lady of Mystery.
