About the Book
Imagine the epic fantasy adventure of “Lord of the Rings” blended with the cosmic strangeness of China Mieville or Jeff Vandermeer, and you’ll have some idea of the wonders and delights awaiting you in “The Atomic Sea”, a brand-new series by bestselling author Jack Conner.

A thousand years ago, the sea changed, becoming strange and unnatural, and in the process transforming the world. Now, with the Empire of Octung plunging the world into a terrible war, only one man — Dr. Francis Avery — and his rag-tag band have a hope of ending the chaos and, once and for a all, uncovering the mystery of the Atomic Sea.

Dr. Avery is out on the sea serving as the doctor aboard a whaling ship when a most curious patient is brought to him — a beautiful woman fished out of the Atomic Se, who has survived the horrors and poisons of the water, and who carries a secret that could either save the world or damn it. At the same time, murders have been occurring aboard the ship — there’s a spy for Octung aboard. If Avery doesn’t save the woman from the killer and help her achieve her ends, the whole world will be plunged into nightmare.

(Very Funny Rhyming Bedtime Story/Picture Book About ‘Thank You’ and Doing Unto Others, for Beginner Readers with 30 happy Illustrations, Ages 2-8)

In the town of Tandumtoo, someone forgot to say ‘Thank you.’ Eh gad! It seems to be an unwritten law in Tandumtoo to respond to any kindness by saying ‘Thank you.’ That means when someone does something nice for you, or says something nice to you, or offers to help you, and especially when someone gives you something. And that was the case here when one of the residents, Willy Saladheimer, gave a newcomer to town one of his tandumberries and the man did not say ‘Thank you.’ Oh the ruckus this started!

Naturally, as in all good children’s stories the situation was put right. The newcomer simply had a different point of view on the subject of gift giving and a different take on The Golden Rule. With 30 delightful illustrations.

On a whim, schoolgirl, Crystal Brooke, bluffs her way into an audition for the White Diamonds, an Asian dance revue. Infected by the glamour of life as a showgirl, the reckless woman-child is drawn to Singapore’s squalid underbelly. On the run from the police, she falls for a good-looking muso ~ an irresponsible bad boy, and not the kind to give your heart to.

Disenchanted with her life, Rubiah runs away from her jungle longhouse to life as an amah, slaving for ex-pats in Miri, home of Borneo’s booming oil industry. Uneducated, she knows she’ll always be a drudge if she doesn’t find a rich husband. Married or single, gangster or conman, she doesn’t care as long as he can give her the lifestyle she craves.

Abandoned as a baby, at seventeen Mei Li is betrothed to an ageing Indonesian fisherman. Encouraged by her beloved grandmother, she flees to Miri to look for her long lost mother. But will Mei Li find the sanctuary she seeks? Or will the secret of her birth destroy her?

About the Author
There’s a saying when one door closes a window opens and that’s what it was like for Ann. When the newspaper where she worked closed down, she turned her back on the city, and headed off to the Australian outback as a governess.

The cattle station where she tutored three young girls was close to the Carnarvon tracking station built by NASA for the Gemini program. Wheels turned and she began writing a thriller about the International Space Station.

Ann now writes fiction full time, square-peg thrillers about socially challenged people in desperate situations. Plot-driven stories about social-conscience issues in the tradition of Charles Dickens and Victor Hugo. Stories that need to be told, because she believe her readers will settle for nothing less.

Tegan has been brought up in a psychologically abusive cult. This is the uplifting story of her journey to find herself and flourish in a world she has been taught to fear and abhor.
Guilt and shadows from her past haunt her in flashbacks, panic attacks and a fear of the dark. However, she also finds a world full of colour, love and happiness she has never known before.
The story opens as Tegan, aged twenty seven, is cast out of the cult, rejected by her family and the only life she has known. She is vulnerable and naïve but she also has courage and the will to survive. She travels to Wales, to previously unknown relations in the wild Cambrian Mountains. The wild beauty of the hills, the people she meets and the secrets slowly revealed by the cottage all provide an intriguing backdrop to Tegan’s drama.
The novel is set in spring. Although it grapples with difficult issues it is far more than a mere tale of survival. It is one of hope, new growth, of the discovery of self and the joy of living.

A life taken; a life preserved. Who decides the outcome of a child born to poverty, slavery, or simply the wrong skin tone or ethnic descent? At our core beats a heart, bestowing the gift of life, but who has the right to determine how that life should be lived?

Come with writer, Shari McGriff, on a powerful journey from modern day, back in time, to turn-of-the century Australia. A small child is chased down a dust-filled street and ripped from his mother’s arms. “Dust-to-dust”, they say, “when we pass from one life to the next.”

Vignettes explored, take the reader on The Trail of Tears, to the farms of wealthy landowners and the gas chambers of Nazi Germany. Families, decimated by greed and lust for power, stare at one another through tear-soaked eyes and a veil of forgetfulness. These are generations robbed of everything: their heritage, past and future, their family ties, and even their names.

Surely, today things are different, more humane and civil. There is no longer a kill the Indian, save the child mentality, or is there? The poor, the uneducated, and the inconvenient are victimized, as in days past. We are all human. Are we perpetrating our own stolen generation?

Deeply moving and forcefully conveyed, this is a short story that will impact the way you look at love, life, and the need to embrace the human family. Free your mind from all earthly cares and spend a few precious minutes in the soul of a child, desperate to share the joys, and sorrows that are our existence.
