I’m Tencia Revona a mother, wife, spiritual teacher,healer, and one of those individuals that live their lives to the fullest, by making the best out of every moment. I’m American. In 2009, I started travelling frequently to Jamaica (Negril). In 2014, I made the move permanent; one of my “bucket list” wishes was to live in another country full time. All I can say is, be careful what you wish for — cuz you just may get it. And boy am I glad I did.

ABOUT LIVING IN JAMAICA FULL-TIME

Since 2010, I’ve rented five places in Negril — from studios with ocean views to a two-bedroom/two-bath house with a yard and access to an infinity pool (which overlooked the ocean; it was beyond gorgeous!). Now, I have a studio apartment with a balcony and an AMAZING ocean view (I’m talking a 270-degree view!) that is about a 20-minute walk to the beach and 5 minutes to bars and restaurants.

THE THING I LOVE THE MOST ABOUT BEING A WRITER …

… it allows me to live and work where I please. As long as I have an internet connection, I’m good to go.

I’ve worked everywhere from a hotel room in Barcelona, Spain; to a cafe in Stockholm, Sweden; to a farm house in Cordoba, Argentina; to a condo in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. As far as work, I feel like the luckiest girl alive most days.

THE THING I LOVE THE MOST ABOUT BEING A SELF-PUBLISHED AUTHOR

In a phrase, “income stability.” As long as I can write (ie, produce new products), I can make a living. How much I earn is entirely up to me. Thanks to places like Amazon, you don’t have to be famous to make a living as a writer.

RUNNING, RUNNING, RUNNING!

I’m also a marathon runner. I’ve completed two full and 8 half marathons as of December 2013 (when I completed my third Reggae Marathon in Negril). I’m always training for the next one (assuming the old knees hold up).

Just do it! (As a runner, of course Nike’s philosophy fits who I am :-)).

About the Author:
Uvi Poznansky is a California-based author, poet and artist. Her writing and her art are tightly coupled. “I paint with my pen,” she says, “and write with my paintbrush.”
She earned her B. A. in Architecture and Town Planning from the Technion in Haifa, Israel. During her studies and in the years immediately following her graduation, she practiced with an innovative Architectural firm, taking part in the design of a large-scale project, Home for the Soldier.
At the age of 25 Uvi moved to Troy, N.Y. with her husband and two children. Before long, she received a Fellowship grant and a Teaching Assistantship from the Architecture department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she guided teams in a variety of design projects; and where she earned her M.A. in Architecture. Then, taking a sharp turn in her education, she earned her M.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Michigan.
During the years she spent in advancing her career—first as an architect, and later as a software engineer, software team leader, software manager and a software consultant (with an emphasis on user interface for medical instruments devices)—she wrote and painted constantly. In addition, she taught art appreciation classes.
