Torn from Her Homeland … Her Parents Murdered … How Could She Cope? When little Hannelore (Hanna) Zack left Cologne, Germany, on a train bound for London as a seven-year-old Mädchen (young girl) on July 24, 1939, she had no way of knowing that she was part of the Kindertransport, an epic rescue effort that would save 10,000 Jewish children from Hitler’s Nazi regime by granting them safe passage to England. In the coming years, Hanna would learn the painful truth: after being stripped of their business, forced from their Zuhause (home), and deported to endure six months of inhumane conditions in the Lodz Ghetto, her parents were gassed in a brutally efficient killing operation in a remote forested area near Chelmno, Poland, on May 3, 1942. Written over a four-year period beginning when Hanna was about seventy-five years old, A Garland for Ashes is both a gripping detective story recounting the heartbreaking process of discovering her family’s fate and a poignant account of her journey from vengeful hatred to forgiveness and release from bitterness.
Author Bio:
Hanna Zack Miley and her husband, George, are active in a ministry of reconciliation, residing five or six months each year in Hanna’s native region of Germany, the Eifel. Hanna and George have spent more than forty-five years ministering worldwide, teaching and living out the love and transforming power of God to work forgiveness even in the most painful of circumstances. Their work has taken them to some one hundred countries. When not travelling internationally to anyplace where entrenched divisions among individuals and groups call for God’s healing, Hanna and George reside in Phoenix, Arizona.

Corporate sabotage was not in Tanzie’s job description per se, but she proves to be a natural at it–as well as her own little deceits.
Tanzie Lewis used to have it all. The stylish wife of a successful oil executive at the top of the Houston social scene, she used to spend her days playing scratch golf or lunching with friends at the club. That was before she was dumped in favor of a beautiful younger woman and the global financial crisis wreaked havoc on her divorce settlement. Now, at 52, Tanzie finds herself depressed and alone in Tulsa, watching her waist size grow and her professional opportunities shrink, working as a minion for clueless bosses in the internal audit department of the Bishop Group. So what’s a “girlie” to do? Snoop!
Taking advantage of Bishop Group’s security weaknesses, Tanzie begins to unravel the intricate warp and woof of corporate fraud, manipulation, and a cover-up that enrages her. Avenging the death of innocent Houstonians after a massive pipeline explosion, and uncovering her own hidden talents for sleuthing and cleverly tampering with the system, Tanzie dishes out her own justice to get even–and to get a little something for herself!

On a warm December day in California, Cristael Bengtson died. As she found herself lifting up out of her body into a dark and terrifying abyss, Cristael cried out, “God, help me! Please help me! Where are you God! Help me now!”
Then a Light appeared, and it drew closer and closer until it enveloped Cristael with pure love.
“I was surrounded by ripples and cascades of Light, rising and falling all around me, like immense waves in the middle of a huge ocean. Held and sheltered within a mighty flow of Light, I was a tiny girl child, newborn. I reached out with my glowing hand, and I touched the Light. The swell of a mother’s breast took shape under my hand, and I was swept away by powerful currents of Light.”
The Light took Cristael to a great school, where she found herself in powerful currents of information, centered around the skills of writing and music. She was given information about her family and her mother and grandmother that she had never known.
Finally she was given the choice to stay in this beautiful place, or to return to Earth. Knowing that her sons would be deeply hurt if she stayed, and knowing that she had work to do, Cristael made the difficult choice to return to Earth.
As she returned, she found herself surrounded with unlimited numbers of what looked like huge LED screens that showed scenes from her entire life. And she remembered everything. Growing up in Pecos, her marriage, two children, and divorce. Her years as a teacher. The years she spent taking care of her dying mother. She remembered all her spiritual experiences and the many visionary and psychic experiences that led her and guided her through the years. She relived her struggles to deal with a culture and people that could not understand her.
This is a heart wrenching story, filled with happiness and nostalgia, sorrow and trials, love and grief, and the overarching joy of the spiritual.
One Amazon Top 1000 Reviewer says, “A wonderful story and very well written. This is a read that I would read again. I spent a long evening reading and thinking about this concept in a different light afterwards, and for that reason I would recommend it.”

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
In this genre the greatest challenge is that you are writing about an experience that is ineffable — there are no words. The greatest struggle in writing this book was writing what cannot be captured in any language. It took me over 100 rewrites — for real — to get the first chapter of my book to the point where I saw I had written as clearly and as truthfully as I could. And since it is a biography, it is all deeply personal, and that is the second big challenge. To write in a way that is as honest and truthful as you can possibly be, and to deal with the deep upwellings of emotion that come with the retelling of intense life memories. There is nothing easy about writing, and there is nothing more challenging that writing about the deepest experiences of your own life.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Realize that you are as worthy as all those best-selling authors you admire so much. You can’t fail in writing, because everything you write helps you to learn more about how to write. Persistence is the key. Be as awkward as you like, day after day, because there’s nothing to stop you from writing and rewriting and rewriting and rewriting. It’s an endless circle. Writing is a process of distillation.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
There is an old Indian saying, ‘Learn to walk in the other person’s moccasins’. I had a deep need to tell the story of my near-death experience in such a way that the reader would have the opportunity to walk in my moccasins, and to feel and experience my NDE for themselves. I wanted to reach out and hold the reader’s hand, while they read about the visions I have been given and the near-death experience that profoundly changed my already visionary life. I wanted the reader to experience the reality that there is no death. What we call dying is not an end, it is a transformation. Above all, I wanted to give the reader a glimpse of that Love and the Light that is beyond all words.
About the Author:
Raised in the high mountains of scenic northern New Mexico, Cristael Bengtson grew up riding horseback in the mountain forests and meadows surrounding the small village of Pecos, where her parents owned and operated a small power and telephone company. At the age of 17, she had a visionary experience of a loving and luminous Great Light.
Married when she was 18, Cristael became the mother of two sons that she raised as a single mom. She earned BA degrees in music education and elementary education, going on to earn her Master of Arts in elementary education with a focus on the reading process.
For two years she taught music in Sandoval County, at that time the third poorest county in the nation. She then became an elementary classroom teacher, teaching mainly third grade. During this time she studied voice intensively, and developed a fine lyric coloratura soprano singing voice.
After her sons left home, Cristael left teaching and took care of her mother until she passed on.
Cristael had her Near Death Experience in 1998.
The book grew out of her journaling, and out of a need to share what had been a secret experience with readers. It was her way of coming out of her closet of secrets, because a closet is a terrible place to live.
Cristael enjoys singing. She is also in the grip of a lifelong compulsive book-reading habit.

What could an assassination program begun by the Nixon administration and a malfunctioning camera on board NASA’s Voyager II space probe possibly have in common?
To Francis Moore, finding the answer is about to become a matter of life and death.
Uprooted by a chance encounter from a promising career in the Marine Corps and thrust onto the front line of the country’s clandestine “war on terror”, Francis has few illusions left about the world and how it works. In an attempt to atone for his complicity in one of the more egregious of the CIA’s covert operations, he resolves to expose the program, only to find his efforts thwarted at the last minute by the intervention of a highly determined “third party”, whose motives he neither suspects nor understands.
Caught suddenly in a rising tempest of murder, deceit and betrayal, Francis has no choice but to turn his talents to identifying his new assailants before it is too late.
From the streets of Manhattan and the country lanes of rural New England to the wilderness of Canada and far beyond, he reluctantly finds himself dragged into the depths of a mystery that is as frightening as it is incredible, a journey that will open his eyes to the existence of something few could imagine, and fewer still would believe possible. A secret with the power to both resurrect the fortunes of a world edging ever closer to the brink of disaster, or tip it over once and for all.
About the Author
Nathaniel Dean James is the pseudonym of author Jonathan Ronnquist. Born in the town of Cuckfield in West Sussex, Jonathan spent much of his early life on the move, living first in Stockholm and Copenhagen, and later in Clearwater, Florida, where he soon developed a passion for sailing. After an extended stay in Mexico City, recently ravaged by the devastating 1985 earthquake, he left school in the United States and headed for the Caribbean, where he became a radar operator on board a cruise-liner sailing out of Curacao in the Netherlands Antilles. Jonathan returned to the United Kingdom the following year, but was soon off again, this time to Eastern Europe, where the post-communist era was only just beginning to reshape the region following several decades of political and economic deprivation. Despite having completed no formal education, he obtained his teaching credentials from the University of Cambridge and spent the next several years teaching English in both Hungary and the Czech Republic. On his return to the United Kingdom at the turn of the millennium, Jonathan enrolled in the British Army, first as an infantryman in the Parachute Regiment, and later as a member of the Royal Military Police, where he completed a tour of the former Yugoslavia as part of operation Palatine. Jonathan now lives with his wife and their two children in Chichester, West Sussex. Origin is his debut novel.
