Geologist Trace Brandon has traded mining in Washington State for the sunshine and warm waters of the Cayman Islands. For the past year, his only encounters with crooks have been social, and no one has tried to kill him. But a phone call from Cyrus “the Virus” McSweeny lures Trace into a dangerous new mining project. This time the quarry is West African alluvial diamonds: rare and extremely valuable…green diamonds.
In the steamy backwater city of Monrovia, Trace and his partner, Will Coffee, team up with expat mining engineer Gordon Watson and an Idaho potato-farmer-turned-diamond-miner known as the “Mormon.” Together, they will make an extraordinary find—what miners call a “First Water Stone.”
When rebels attempt a coup, Trace and his partners are caught up in violence and treachery that threaten to engulf them all . . .

About the book:
STARRED REVIEW BOOKLIST
“If somebody doesn’t make a movie out of this book, there’s something wrong with the world. This could have been played as an out-and-out slapstick comedy, but instead the author approaches the story like a character study: a portrait of a man with the best intentions in the world watching those intentions collide with reality. It’s a steamroller of a story, starting small, with George’s idea, and getting bigger and bigger as George tries to put the elements together, as his obsession takes him further and further away from reality. Beautifully done.”
David Pitts Booklist
“The author marries the everyday dramas found in the novels of Tom Perrotta and Nick Hornby to the high camp of Carl Hiaasen or Dave Barry. Adults looking for a funny holiday-themed tale that doesn’t lose its sense of wonder in the face of realism will find a treat here. A lovingly crafted comedy about the madness that fatherhood inspires.”
Kirkus Reviews
Best-selling author Hazelgrove (e.g., Ripples; Tobacco Sticks) captures the human need to believe in something good. This book will satisfy readers looking for a happy Christmas story.– Library Journal
“Hazelgrove’s lively improbable narrative will appeal to the readers in the mood for holiday fiction.”
Publishers Weekly
“This heartwarming and humorous Christmas story shows the determination of one man to bring magic to his daughter’s childhood.”
Foreword Reviews
George Kronenfeldt is an unemployed engineer with one shot to keep his daughters belief in Santa intact. When Megan tells him the only way she will believe in Santa is if she can videotape him and then tells her fourth grade class she will prove the existence of Santa Claus by posting her video to YouTube, George realizes he must become the Real Santa.
Real Santa is a funny heartwarming story of parenthood gone wrong and illuminates what lengths parents will go to keep their children happy.

The hunched figure sat on a three-legged wooden stool, hooded head leaning over the container. Eyes unblinking, it peered intently into the murky miasma. Hands were raised and sleeves folded carefully back, before fingers were waved over the bowl in intricate patterns. At the same time, whispered incantations passed from tight, dry lips, attempting to invoke the aid of some otherworldly power.
Ollie and his crew are back! The Fibulan Museum has been burglarised and our intrepid detectives are appointed to solve the mystery, but they soon discover that this is no ordinary crime. During the course of their investigations, they find themselves undertaking a quest of quite literally epic proportions, in the hope that they will stave off disaster and avoid seeing Mrs. Ladle’s legs.

This book is bargain priced from 12/01/2014 until 12/07/2014 in USA, UK. Price is: $0.99
Targeted Age Group: new adult – adult
Grief counselor and skeptic Claire Devane finds her life turned upside down when the recently deceased begin to return from the hereafter to visit the living one last time. Secrets are revealed. Love and longing… betrayal, murder, guilt… the visitations bring them all out of the shadows and into the light. It’s a strange new world, one that threatens to swallow her whole.
Imagine a world in which the recently deceased are able to visit one person… and only one person… “one last time” for a few minutes. They visit, not as a ghost, but as a real, substantial human being. They may visit with love in their hearts, or malice. They may visit to ask a question, or to give instruction, to apologize or to accuse.
If you were such a person, now deceased, who would you visit? Your children? But what if you have two and can only visit one–which would you visit? Who would your loved ones visit? What if they chose not to visit you, but someone else?
These are the questions explored in One Last Time through the experiences of Claire Devane and the clients she serves, while her own life is turned upside down by the new phenomenon.
Author Bio:
Jan Strnad is a writer living in Los Angeles, California, where he has worked for most of the major studios, from Disney to MGM, Sony/Columbia to Universal Pictures. He is the author of three novels dealing with alternative views of the afterlife. He’s married, loves dogs and has been active in dog rescue.
At this point in my life, I’ve lost a number of friends and family members. Some of them passed away unexpectedly.
My mother went into the hospital in Kansas for a routine complaint, was talking and joking when I spoke with her on the phone from California that evening. Her voice was strong, spirits high. She passed away that night.
I had a pal, Mike. We didn’t see each other very often but his voice was often in my head. I learned from a Facebook friend that Mike had passed away a few months before.
And there have been others. So many passings, and so much left unsaid. What I wouldn’t give for a few minutes with each of these people, a few precious minutes to say goodbye, to tell them what they meant to me, maybe to reveal a secret, ask forgiveness, ask them a question.
I thought about writing a story in which people could do that, visit “one last time” with the deceased.
I quickly decided that it wouldn’t work. Some people–the Mark Twains of the world, for instance, the movie stars, the rock idols–would spend all of eternity visiting those who wanted to see them after they passed.
But it could work the other way around. It could work if the deceased were able to visit the living, the people they chose. And then I thought: What if they only got one? A single “one last time” visit. Who would they visit, and why? The concept seemed rich with dramatic possibilities, some of them warm and fuzzy, others terrifying or humorous. The more I thought about it, the deeper I fell in love with the idea.
So One Last Time was born.

Stalling and Steffor inhabit different worlds, yet they are connected. Together, but unbeknownst to one of them, they race towards an inevitable, if unimaginable collision.
As a Guardian, Steffor protects the Provider’s Citizens from a host of dangers inherent to a world of perpetual wilderness. When not serving as a resident hero, Steffor spends his time training for the Dive. Qualified for this season’s championship, manifesting his future fame seems certain, if not for events manifesting a different future for Steffor and his peaceful society. A future in direct lockstep with destiny.
On Antium, artificial intelligence fast approaches the point of exceeding human intelligence. Despite its aggressive development and implementation of technology over that past century, hubris hinders the Church of Salvation from seeing the Singularity’s inevitable arrival, much less process its implications on the future. The lethal weakness of their enemy identified, Stalling Alterian and his cadre of gifted conspirators accelerate the Singularity’s arrival to lead a fertile insurrection against the merciless theocracy. Committed to saving their society, or die trying, moments away from completing the crucial and final phase of their clandestine mission, Stalling discovers a fatal error in his calculations that threatens to destroy it all. Absent of any solution and the enemy closing in, can Stalling impose his technological miracle onto humanity before the noose pulls tight?
About the Author
Trey Copeland is the author of KNOWN AFTERLIFE, Volume 1 of the Provider Trilogy. Inspired by Joseph Campbell’s “17 Stages of the Hero’s Journey”, Copeland’s debut trilogy explores the gray areas found between science and mysticism, speculating on the relationship between spiritual evolution and the Singularity–the inevitable moment, in a very near future, when artificial intelligence will have progressed to the point of a greater-than-human intelligence.
Trey currently resides in North Carolina with his loving, supportive and patient wife, where they both do their best to prioritize raising their three boys.
