About the Author:
Winner, Best Author, The Preditors & Editors Readers Awards 2009, and also Winner of Best Children’s Book, and Best Artwork for ‘Tilly’s Tale’ (under his Harry Porter pseudonym), and with a Top Ten Finisher Award for his thriller ‘Legacy of the Ripper’, Brian L Porter is the author of a number of successful novels. His works include the winner of The Preditors & Editors Best Thriller Novel 2008 Award, A Study in Red — The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper and its sequels, Legacy of the Ripper and the final part of his Ripper trilogy, Requiem for the Ripper, all signed for movie adaptation by Thunderball Films (L.A.), with A Study in Red already in the development stages of production. How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
Tempe Crabtree is a Native American, though she refers to herself as Indian and she married to a Christian pastor. Sometimes they have problems when she uses Indian spiritualism to solve crimes. Her husband feels this is dangerous toher soul. In this particular book, Hutch is helpful in many of the situations she finds herself.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Read the kind of books you want to write. Spend time learning the ins and outs of writing. Spend a specific amount of time at least 5 days a week writing. To be a writer, you must write. And never give up.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Bears are Us is part of the Deputy Tempe Crabtree series. My grandson is a police officer in Aspen CO and in the summer and fall he spends a lot of time chasing bears out of people’s houses, schools, cars and stores. Where I live, a place much like where Tempe is the resident deputy, we often have bear sightings too. I decided to include bears in this particular mystery.

Liz Parker was born in a housing estate in Northern Ireland which is just outside of Belfast on the banks of the Lagan. She left at age 17 and travelled in the UK for a few years, travelling to Africa with her new husband in 1976 and finally settling in Australia in 1990. With 2 children and 1 grandson her home is south of Brisbane where she lives with her husband of 39 years Ed and their 2 puppies Douglas and Tessa. Her children and grandchild close by.
After 20+ years in senior management and CEO roles, Liz decided to start her own home-based business in 2006 and she never looked back. Passionate about helping women in business and a very keen interest in the online world. She wrote her first book in partnership with 3 others which was for the solopreneur. After dropping out of university he worked for bank, a utility company, and for Big Oil. He prefers sunsets over sunrises, white wine over red, beer over white wine, and pizza over pasta. His reaction to airplanes passing overhead resembles that of a seven-year-old seeing an ice cream van. Which, he insists, is a good thing.
